Workshop
Focus: The overall theme of the
Workshop is compound semiconductor materials and processing issues, advanced
electronic and photonic devices, characterization techniques, and new
concepts.
Participation: Prior WOCSEMMADs have been successful in part based
on the many opportunities for interaction throughout the meeting. We therefore request that you attend
the entire WorkshopÉ beginning
with the Sunday evening Welcoming Reception, and concluding with the Wednesday
final session, scheduled to conclude at 12:30 p.m.
Presentation
Information: As you prepare your presentation, please plan to
include the following:
á
two to five PowerPoint slides for 5 minutes of presentation, followed
by 5 minutes of Q&A
á
focus on important new
data, and Òup-to-the-minuteÓ results
á
share
Òless-than-successfulÓ efforts as well as successful endeavors
á present unpublished results or discuss new aspects of recently published results
Audio/Visual
Equipment: Audio/visual equipment will include an LCD
projector, laser pointer, and audio system. Please provide your memory stick or CD-Rom with your 3 to 5 PowerPoint slides to
Shari Allwood via email in advance of the Workshop, or on-site the day prior to your presentation. All files will be
pre-loaded on ShariÕs laptop prior to the start of the dayÕs sessions.

Hotel Reservations: The group guestroom rate at the Radisson Fort McDowell
Resort & Casino is $121 single/double per night plus 11.67% tax. (Note: the Resort has kindly offered
the government rate of $121 to all WOCSEMMAD participants.) Based on availability, the group room
rate will be provided 3 days prior and 3 days following the Workshop dates. To reserve your room, call the resort at 480-836-5300, toll free to
Radisson Worldwide Reservations at 1-800-333-3333, and identify yourself as a
WOCSEMMAD attendee to obtain the group rate. Or you may reserve a room online at www.radisson.com/ftmcdowellaz. On the homepage, use the Òcheck rates
& availabilityÓ section, and insert the promotional code WOCSEM to obtain the group rate. All reservations must be guaranteed and accompanied by a
first night non-refundable room deposit, or guaranteed with a major credit
card. In order to receive the
group rate, your reservation must be received by January 25th, 2006.
Transportation: The Radisson offers complimentary round-trip transportation
between Phoenix Sky Harbor airport and the Resort if they
have your arrival/departure information in advance. If you desire to use the
complimentary transportation, please provide your flight information on the
registration form. Shari will then
provide a transportation list to the hotel.
Registration Materials: Your registration packet, which will contain your
badge, the Program Schedule, a thank you to the financial supporters, and a
roster of participants will be provided to you when you register at the
Radisson.
Student Registration: Generous donors have provided resources to support the
WOX Õ06 registration fees for students.
Consequently, there will be no registration fees to be paid by the
student presenters who are pre-registered and received this confirmation
letter.
Attire: In addition to the technical program, we hope that
you will find the Workshop and personal interactions and activities relaxing
and enjoyable. Please plan to be
comfortable – casual attire is appropriate. Ties and jackets are not required.
Workshop Assistance: Shari Allwood will assist us with arrangements both
in advance of the meeting and on-site. To ensure both participants and
spouses/guests are cared for, kindly return the enclosed registration form with
payment to Shari Allwood, at your earliest convenience or not later than
January 17th, 2006.
